Before we start looking at Italian women’s characteristics, we will examine some facts about the country. When it comes to iconic European countries, there’s no doubt that Italy has always been one of the most influential and significant. Indeed, while Italy isn’t necessarily quite the global power it once was today, there’s no doubt that Italy’s history has changed the course of the world as we know it. In fact, during the country’s heyday in the middle ages, it was one of the world’s most significant global powers, with influence over the vast majority of other countries, predominantly Christian countries. However, since then, Italy has become a much less influential global player but still plays a vital role in international politics. Italy is particularly influential still in terms of religion, being the main home of Christianity and Catholicism worldwide. It is now a Unitary parliamentary republic, with Sergio Mattarella as the president, Mario Draghi as Prime Minister, Elisabetta Casellati as the President of the Senate, and Roberto Fico as the President of the Chamber of Deputies. Italy is mainly bordered by the Mediterranean Sea, although the country also borders Slovenia, Austria, France, and Switzerland.
The total land area for Italy is just over 300,000 square kilometers, making it only the 71st biggest country globally; despite this, it has a total population of around 60 million people, making it the 23rd largest country by population. Italy’s GDP is valued at $2.106 trillion, making it the 8th largest country by wealth globally, with a per capita value of around $35,000. Notably, the country is also very high on the Human Development Index, or HDI, with a score of just below 0.9. The country has hosted countless different cultures and civilizations in its time. For example, the most iconic civilization from Italy was the Roman Empire (and the Holy Roman Emperor, in control of Catholicism); however, the country has also been home to Greeks, Etruscans, and Celts, depending on the specific region in question. Nevertheless, the Roman Empire was undeniably the dominating force to emerge from Italy. Until the early Middle Ages, the Western Roman Empire fell to invasions by Barbarians.
In line with their bold and influential history, it’s perhaps no surprise that many Italian women are so proud, confident, and brave. Italian women can hold a very intense stare and gaze, which some people may find offputting; so, if you notice an Italian woman staring at you for long periods of time, it’s only normal. Their deep, dark eyes, tanned skin, and typically long and dark hair further add to Italian women’s presence and confident look, so you may need to be prepared for this when trying to date Italian women for the first time. However, one trait that is very common with Italian women – and which is generally outside of beauty standards in other countries – is a well-defined Roman nose. This gives Italian women a strong, natural, and well-balanced, yet unmistakably feminine, look and is generally well in keeping with Italian women’s overall mindset and mentality. Living in Italy resembles other European countries, such as France, Portugal, and Spain.
